This video compares 4 puppies together to help illustrate the difference between Shih Tzu sizes. There are two full littermate siblings in this video, Davinci and Picasso who are 8.5 weeks. Davinci is a "imperial" Shih Tzu and estimated to weigh between 6-7.5 pounds full grown. Picasso is a small standard size Shih Tzu and estimated to weigh about 10 pounds full grown. Their parents are our International Champ Pacy who weighs 7 pounds and Sassy who weighs 8.5 pounds. Davinci is the smallest puppy of the litter and Picasso the largest, and there are of course several puppies with sizes in between and Mommy has previously produced a puppy of Davinci's estimated size, who is a 3/4 sibling. There are both tiny lines and Champions in their pedigree, which help contribute to the different sizes you will find.

Also, compared to them are 5.5 month old tri color Sophia who weighs a little over 3 pounds and estimated at 5 pounds full grown and Presley, an itty bitty black and white Shih Tzu who weighed 1.12 at 5 months and is now estimated at under 3 pounds full grown, making him one of the tiniest purebred Shih tzu in the US. These guys are half cousins to the black puppies, but have more tiny lines close up in their pedigree. We also want to stress that body type is more important than weight, and even the biggest puppy pictured in this video is short and stocky. Imperial Shih Tzu take much longer to develop and we feel a responsible breeder should not let them go home until they are at least 2 pounds. You do not know if a Shih Tzu will be an imperial or not at birth, even if they have a low birth weight and/or small parents.
The puppies in this video are NOT FOR SALE, except for Davinci and this video is provided for educational purposes only. The puppies have all just come in from outside, so they are not groomed. Presley was wearing his favorite sweater, which is why his hair has static.
All puppies in this video have vet checked 100% healthy and are wonderful, happy babies.   Here at Beauty and the Beast Shih Tzu we love Shih Tzu of all sizes and colors and it is our goal to help educate others so they are better able to adopt the puppy of their dreams!
