"Graceland" October 10- October 15, 2008
Grace, right from the beginning I knew you were special, from your tiny size (3.8) to sweet expression.  We fought together, but God had other plans for you.  Though you did not live long enough to open your eyes you opened mine.  Thank you for our breif time together my friend.
Grace is pictured on the left in one of the few times she was able to eat without being held.

Hi Kim,

Bazil has been doing great! He doesn't cry too much at night and usually sleeps the whole night through. although I am up at 6:30am to let him out of his 'room'. He's also been pretty good at peeing on his potty pad; 100% so far today! But I still have to pick him up and place him on the pad when he poops.

I've taught him how to sit/come/jump, and he's started his leash training (although he keeps wanting to chew it). Going to start puppy kindergarten in a week or two, of course for the training but more for the socialization, and we're thinking about having him do doggie day care a day or two a week during his developmental stage. My main concern is to expose him to as many things as possible when he's a pup.

He's seen our bunnies and wants to play with them but my bunnies are pretty scared of him right now, so we have to half the house for now and keep them separated. They can still see each other though. It will be a slow process of getting my bunnies used to him.

Thank you, Kim for Bazil! I'm very happy to have him and can't wait to watch him grow. I will follow up again in a few weeks, once things have started to move along. I wish you the best with your other pups and I'm sure their new owners are just as thrilled as I am.

Regards,
Rachel

Hello, Kim,
Hope this finds you doing well. We are all just fine and loving Lydia. I wanted to write and tell you what a WONDERFUL happy little dogs she is. In all the dogs in our lives we have never had one so happy and completely loving as she is! She is a pure joy in our lives and home.
This is funny.... also, in all the dogs we have had we have never had a dog love the outdoors like she does! Here we have the big lab, Raven, who is a "couch hound" and little Lydia would rather be chewing her rawhide on the lawn. What a role reversile! She has a mind of her own and just loves to play with her toys, socks, and her rawhides. She has her little pink collar with her micro chip ID on it and has never seemed to mind wearing it one bit. She loves her tummy scratched and paws you for more when you dare stop.  She found her bark and not afraid to use it to tell you to hurry with dinner or to let you have it when she is not getting attention. In the "big" truck her ride shot gun on her little fur bed so each of us can scratch her tummy.  How are the others from the litter? When will Nikki have her next litter? I have people asking and I will happily keep them informed if anyone is interested. We are just so happy we met you and decided on Lydia. I just can't say enough how much we love her!!!  I will get some pictures soon... Lee needs to show me how to download them on the computer.  Take care. Jan, Lee, Raven and Lydia
Hi!
Am typing w/ one hand .... Mia is napping on my shoulder. Snarfflee snuffle sigh...... Ok, she's now in her "cave" napping so I can write ya! I took a wire kennel without its door and put a pillow and soft blankets, then a big stuffed bear in one corner and half a dozen little toys too (had them still from when Abby was little). Mia sleeps on or over the bear's leg. I also put a blanket over the kennel except the front so it would feel snug. Then she also has a play yard (fenced) where puppy pads are. Adjustments are moving along...... Thursday (first night) Abby was really angry (would turn away from us or any attempt to play). Abby also didn't eat much Thurs/Friday. Saturday Mia and Abby played tag around and around a chair taking turns chasing. They were doing the doggy play-bow too. CUTE! Today they haven't done the chase but have been willing to play in the living room side by side. Abby learned she can be on the couch when she wants to get away. Also Abby did a little "acting out"  yesterday -- she used the puppy pee pad.... then I noticed she was hiding something in her mouth and was trying to bury it in the couch cushion. It was Mia's little giraffe you sent. I gave Abby a treat and traded for the toy and put it back in Mia's pen. A few hours later Abby had the toy again!!! I decided to let her have it as Mia has numbers of Abby's toys. Now they both play with it on the floor. Abby is still reserved and sort of watches from her couch perch but her eyes are not upset---more curious now. The first and second day when I'd throw balls or toys Abby would run to get it with Mia right on her heels. Abby would drop the toy and walk away. Today Abby stared at Mia very seriously and turned her head away and brought the toy back herself! Now, Mia chases along but doesn't bug Abby if Abby gets there first. MIA IS A FAST RUNNER!!!!!!!!!!! As I am writing, Ted is on the living room floor with both dogs----tug the rope toy. He cracks up when Mia barks. Mia has slept (or been quiet) at night. Not a peep!! I was the one keeping an eye open checking on her thru the night. She would either be sleeping or chewing a toy. I duplicated the downstairs set up, upstairs. (I had two of everything -- one at work and one at home -- when Abby was little).  The one upstairs has a heat lamp and is about 3 feet from the bed so I can just open my eyes and see how she's doing. She is BEAUTIFUL..... I just look at her and see more and more. I love the white and dark brown under her chin. I've combed her out each day and she's fine with it. It is so obvious to me now the difference in a "socialized" puppy and the care you gave all of them. She is so confident, so grounded, so silly(!), so unafraid of anything. Can't imagine the work and time you put in!!!!! and how utterly important it was to you to find happy homes. Thank you Kim (and Zubare). Oh! I also watched the CD of photos! Soooooooooooo amazing. When Mia is panting and playing I really see Bu in her. Ted really loves animals. He said he would rather we had made the decision together.....(but he had already told me a second dog would be too much work and he didn't want to do it). I've never done this before with him -- this big of an addition to our home. I knew he would fall in love with Mia (as he has absolutely.... right now he's on his back with Mia jumping all over him). Bounce! Bounce! Bounce! Abby had no siblings and not much play with other dogs. It will be fun when she gets into playing with Mia. When Abby plays her eyes get bright and she's almost surprised at herself.  Oh also, both Abby and Mia drank out of Abby's water dish tonight at the same time. I think that was an important step too. We're not introducing Hank for a while. He's more an outside dog.  I'm so glad to have a few days off work. I go back Tuesday but now have incentive to hurry (or bring work home)!! We are having a low-key Christmas with the kids so it all has worked out well.  Guests coming sometime after Christmas for 3-4 days but they are mellow folks. I better get going -- my laundry is calling!?!
Sandie (and Mia and Abby)
Here are what a few of my happy families have to say about their new puppies...
this is Mia, a cream liver female out of Nikki/Bugatti out in the snow
isn't she gorgeous?the cream liver female is Mia, bred here, with her friends Hank and Abby, (Shih Tzu/ Japanese Chin cross) all there are happily owned by Sandie in Grass Valley, CAshe gets prettier every day!
Bobby is doing well & everyone loves Mr lick everything ( you would think his tongue would get tired or too dry ).  My newphew loves him ( he especially laughs when he licks him , it tickles).   My brother-in Law's daughter asked one day if we where coming to a dinner but not to see us, she wanted to see Bobby.
He has gone to the vet 2xs already & all is well the 1st time he was very tender on the side of the shot but this last one did not affect him.  My mother loves him & now she wants him to sleep with her, which is good since she has someone to care for while I am at work.
Every one loves him & says he is very smart.
I am glad we got him, he brings a lot of joy into all our lives

Thank you very much,

Betty
